Well I'm probably cheeky making suggestions after playing for such a comparatively short time, ---- but I'm going to do it anyway.

Generally speaking, I like donating to games, ---- well that is I tend to want to assuming the developer isn't A, too greedy and B, is offering something useful.

Monbre however just doesn't eem to even have a Vip mode, ---- much less features, which isn't right, and indeed isn't helpful to Val, or those who want Monbre to continue.

So, I was thinking what game factors might be tweaked in vip mode wihout mangling too much, and I've had a few thoughts:

1: increased item drop rate. Apparently the current drop rate is 1 in 35, ---- make Vip mode say a quarter better, eg, 1 in 28. The reason I suggest isn't actually for equips, but for making money. Currently iv'e actually come to a stopping point because I simply don't have the cash to advance. yes, i can send my monsters to work, but in terms of money vs need, ---- particularly when factoring in the costs of healing items and teleports this isn't great. i've been doing lots of exploring, but that's just not lucrative enough to keep things running at all, and actually i'm going to have to stop all exploration and set the monsters I have working just to afford an upgrade. I admit, this is partly my fault, for completing the swamp quest and getting the monster reward before I really had enough space, stil, more items to sell would be good, ---- in fact for pruposes of game balance if upping the equip wrate seemed to much, just make marble and other sellable item drops more frequent for subscribers.

2: reduced recovery times. yes, I know there are skills for this, but this would be a nice bonus for Vip players, ---- say a reduction of one hour, then have the skills reduce a further two. pluss, more working means more money.

3: reduced train prices. Again, I know there's a skill, but this might be handy for subscribers, ---- in fact this could be a chief bennifit to those who life exploration.

4: increased srp gain at training center. This could even be themed, ie, access to special training for your monsters for paying for a certain bennifit such as member of the breeders guild.

5: access to random bounty missions. An idea from mud games. As well as the quests, an npc hands out a bounty on a specific mob in the town's vicinity. These wouldn't have to be textually heavy, just "you walk into the bounty hunters guild and see a contract posted for x number of x mob for x gold" no advancing the plot, but another way of making cash from exploration, ---- and one which again could be plot tied to vip mode, ---- eg, paying real cash for a bounty hunter license. Also a way of making grinding more interesting.

6: monster healing at midnight, --- reduced hospitl bills nuff said.

Basically I'm thinking that the point of Vip is for people who like the unique aspects of monbre and want to see more, and who would be willing to pay for more, ---- I'd say for some of these a 5-10 dollers a month subscription would be absolutely fine, and indeed more reasonable than some games which ask much more for much less, ---- believe me, I've checked out literally hundreds of brouser based games in the past, and seen subscriptions ranging from the ridiculous to the insane!

One game even limited your character to recieving one action point every half hour with a max of 40, ---- and in this game one combat round or one step of movement took one ap, then charged you five usd a month to get out of the initial 99 x 99 area the game was set in, ---- with a further 10 usd if you actually wanted more ap, ---- like enough to actually do anything!

And that didn't even have interesting descriptions or plot, it was a pure grind fest.

Just some thoughts.

Sorry mate. He has started a vip thing, but he really hasn't expanded on it. I'm one of the vip players and all I get is the vip forum, which really isn't much interesting. ANd you shouldn't spend a lot of money on mantalicks or teleports. I have no mantalicks and only 2 teleports and I do fine. Use your monster's healing skills instead. Evils, admittedly don't have much good of a healing skill, but if you are a worker you have Healing stance (40% healing for 25 energy) which is a really nice boost. ANd there are those bounty quests, like Kah ler's 30 kichu, New Orsa's 10 slimes, and there will be more as well. The worst of them was the 200 golems in Rithalos, but that is pretty far away.

Hence my suggestions, money would be handy, and obviously having content worth paying for is as bennificial to the players as it is to the developer to have people pay. I admit starting with a normal monster wasn't a good plan, ---- though actually I've found life snatch to be a pretty useful ability for evil monsters, ---- it heals them and harms opponents, both good, but healing abilities aren't a litle random at first to come by, ---- pluss there's the issue of saving cash for upgrades, train fairs and all the rest.

I suppose Vip mode could do what some other games have done and offer an uba boost of some sort, ---- eg, faster leveling monsters or no work injuries ever, ---- but this would imho be bad sinse it'd just create the situation where you had to pay to get ahead in the game which wouldn't be good.

Selwin, the problem with your suggestions for VIP is that they go against my belief for gaming. I don't believe you should get an advantage over someone just because you paid for the game. That being said, there are many things I have planned that instead of enhancing your character, enhance the game for you. You can check out some of these in the general forum sticky for VIP. I will reduce train prices and give little tickets for lots of SRP. Also please keep in mind that MonBre is not currently in full development, I'm working on another game and will finish MonBre in the summer.

As for the price for MonBre, I have no idea. I was thinking $4 a month or just $10 to buy the whole game. No idea, we'll see.

Killer, there is no VIP thing. Don't tell people "sorry mate" like that's the fucking end of it. You are in the VIP forum because you helped with the mob book.

Well reduced train prices and indeed srp tickits sound good, ---- I'm also a big fan of extra missions, areas, quests etc, --- in fact the more exploration and quests the better.

It just personally strikes me that while features like rival renaming and removal of adds are aesthetically pleasing, they don't really enhance the actual playing experience of the game, which is rather a shame sinse playing the game is the fun bit.

Imho $4 would be reasonable indeed, ---- especially if extra quests, modes etc get introduced into the game making for exploration and such which goes even further on with the story.

Btw, when you say "finish Monbre" I really hope developement will continue generally with more stuff added to the game later. I'd deffinately like to see Monbre as something ongoing rather than something which starts and then stops.

Yes, since MonBre is my first game, and I knew nothing of game design when I started it, it is poorly designed. This means that though it's incredibly impressive, and will have a great storyline and all that, it doesn't act like a normal browser-based game. Which means I will always have to add more storyline to it. The current plan is to get it finished in terms of core features, and then focus on adding more content via storyline and quests.

I don't believe in giving VIP players too much extra content because ultimately I made it and I want everyone to enjoy it. There might be a VIP-only area, like a carnival, I don't know.

The VIP enhancements are just things that make playing the game more enjoyable. Also I should note that for VIPs, you get an even lowered requirement for the valor boosts, so VIPs who really like the game can easily justify spending 15 minutes racking up some kills so they can get their breeder exp and then log out for the day, whereas they might, if they didn't have the boost, decide to just work their monsters for the day.

Well sounds handy. I'm not a fan of Vip only areas or atual restictions in zones either, but as you say, paying to have the game more enjoyable seems fine to me.

I'm also glad more storyline and such will be on the way, and that Monbre won't be "finished" with that aspect.

Lower Valor requirement is a good one. Those without it can work their monsters harder but, it's a good tradeoff since those monsters that had to work harder are then stronger.
Half fare for transportation or some huge discount would just save the VIP players money. Perhaps some kind of store coupon or just a universal coupon?
And, the mob book could be a bonus feature?

I think that Vael VIctus compiled it once into this big document. My friend mailed me the link. It has all the work we've done in it. He found it on Google. About VIP, we could have, maybe, unlocked VIP skills for mons or something like that. WIth the removal of Precision, I got some extra skills, so I have Revered now, and I'm living the good life! I'm gettin' like 1100 bux a day!

Well, unfortunately it'll be a few levels yet until I get that one, ;D.

I'd personally be less of a fan of vip only skills, unless they were basically reduction rates such as the reduced valour cost, sinse otherwise you might have a situation where all the best combat stuff was Vip only and there were tough mobs (not to mention pvp), which actually couldn't be required without them (I've seen this in many a game too).

Btw, where is this mob book? i've seen the bestiary on the main site and looked up mobs there when I find them, ---- but I presume you mean something more extensive?

it is in the VIP forum. It's a secret because Vael doesn't want other people abusing it. Why he kept it secret. ANd yeah. Before Precision I had about 19 out of the 36 skills I have right now in PVP, but now I only have like 13 and the skills are more evenly distributed among the three trees.

Bestiary on the main site? I haven't seen that.
When I was working on the "Mob Book" (bestiary) I also made a text file which Vael told me to post it somewhere. So, I guess that's out of the question now?

That's what it is! Selwin was talking about on the general forum, where you put in stats for Lacus.

I suppose the mob book could be seen as a VIP-only feature. We'll see where I go with it, but the mob book was created to aid in the wiki software I'd like to set up for the game eventually.
