It's pretty confusing donating SRP to the golem... If you don't mind would you please make it more straight-forward by having a donate SRP thing on the golem screen?

Your guild sets a percentage. You go out and fight mobs, the set percentage is then taken from you and given to your Golem... Maybe the word "Donate" makes it confusing, it is more of a tax really. Everyone can donate. You set your taxes how you want them in Account, but you can't set them lower than the guild's. Roshie has it right. Also, I'm going to add this to the reference now.
